History

United Bank & Trust was founded with a vision to provide Marshalltown and the surrounding communities with a community-focused bank built on personal relationships, responsive service, and local decision-making.

With the support of Ames National Corporation and local investors, United Bank & Trust opened its doors on June 29, 2002. Before moving into its permanent home, the bank began serving customers from a temporary trailer. It was a modest start, but one that reflected United Bank & Trust's commitment to serving the community from day one.

Since opening its doors, United Bank & Trust has continued to grow to meet the needs of its customers. The addition of a downtown location in 2006 expanded access while maintaining the personalized service and local decision-making that have defined the bank since the beginning.

Today, United Bank & Trust continues to combine the strength of Ames National Corporation with local service, trusted relationships, and community commitment that have distinguished the bank for more than two decades.
