How do I report debit card fraud?

When you notice fraud has taken place using your debit card, the first step is to close your card so no further transactions can be processed. Please call the bank at 641-753-5900 for assistance in closing your card. If you call after business hours, please follow the phone prompts to be connected to our after hours card services, or call 877-328-1994.
Once the card is closed, call us at 641-753-5900, or visit our main location at 2101 S. Center St. for assistance with ordering a replacement debit card. Our staff will also provide assistance with the fraudulent transactions.

How do I change my PIN on my debit card?

If you decided to change your PIN on your debit card, simply call 1-800-992-3808.
You will need the following:
- To call from a phone number we have on file
- The debit card number
- The expiration date of your card
- The 3 digit code on the back of the card
- The last 4 digits of your SSN
You can then select your new PIN for immediate use.

When will I receive my new or reissued debit card?

Newly Issued Debit Cards
New debit cards ordered during account opening, or when requested to be added to an account, will typically take 7-10 days to arrive. Cards will be mailed to the address on file.
Activate a New Debit Card
To activate a new debit card (not a renewal or replacement of an existing card), call 1-800-992-3808.
Please have the following:
- Call from a phone number we have on file
- Your debit card number
- Your debit card expiration date
- The 3 digit code on the back of the card
- The last 4 digits of your SSN
You will then be prompted to select your PIN and your card will be activated.
Renewal Debit Cards
Renewal debit cards will be ordered the month prior to the existing card expiration date. Cards will be mailed to the address on file.
Activate a Renewal Debit Card
To activate a renewal or replaced debit card in which you have already had a card with an established PIN, simply use your new card at an ATM or at a retailer using your PIN number. This will activate your card. Your old card will no longer be active, and you may properly dispose of it.

Will I receive any rewards when I use my United Bank & Trust debit card?

Yes! If you have your debit card tied to either Simple Cash Back or Interest Rewards Debit Card, you will receive rewards when you meet qualifications of the account.
Simple Cash Back - earn a $0.10 cash back reward with each settled debit card purchase*
Interest Rewards - Earn Interest Rewards "special" rate earned on balances up to $15,000 during each statement cycle when the following criteria is met:**
- One direct deposit OR one automatic withdrawal AND
- 25 settled debit card purchases per statement cycle
*Up to $5 per statement cycle, per account
**Balances over $15,000 will earn the Interest Rewards market rate. If electronic banking criteria is not met, the entire balance will earn the Interest Rewards base rate.

How can I protect myself from debit card fraud?

Debit cards are safe to use, but they are even safer when you put security measures in place to help protect you from fraud.
- Use contactless or mobile wallet. Your card number is encrypted, preventing your card details from being compromised.
- Never let anyone else use your card.
- Protect your PIN Number - never write your PIN on the back of your card, or anywhere else that others might have access.
- Select a random PIN number. Using your birthdate or another significant date can be easily guessed by others.
- Report you card lost or stolen immediately.
- Check your account transactions regularly and report fraudulent transactions to the bank immediately. Online Banking gives you access to view transactions anytime you'd like.

Will I be notified of suspected fraudulent debit card transactions?

When a potentially suspicious transaction is made, the fraud department will send you a text or call you, asking you to verify the transaction. Follow the instructions provided to confirm whether you made the transaction. We will never ask you for your full debit card number or account number when confirming fraud via text or phone call.
To ensure that you don’t miss a legitimate call or text about fraudulent activity on your card, enter the number 833-763-2031 (English) or 833-763-2032 (Spanish) into your phone contacts, identifying the caller as Debit Card Fraud Alert. A legitimate text message will show on your caller ID as 37268 or 833-763-2033 (English) 833-753-2034 (Spanish).
