Doug Husak, Commercial & Ag Lender at United Bank & Trust announces his upcoming retirement on March 7, 2025.
Husak got his start in banking in 1991 working at Tama State Bank as a part-time morning check sorter. Soon after, he was offered
a full-time job as a Teller. In 1994, Husak joined Brenton Bank as a Personal Banker and remained in that position until 2001 when the bank was acquired by Wells Fargo. After the acquisition, an opportunity arose, and he transitioned to the role of Business Banker.
In 2020, Husak, wanting to get back to a community bank, joined the team at United Bank & Trust as a Senior Loan Officer, and later went part-time as a Commercial & Ag Lender. He knew that this would be the bank he would finish his career and retire from.
When asked about his banking career, Husak commented “I love being available for, and being able to help clients, regardless of their status in life. I’ve enjoyed hearing their stories and working with them to further their business needs”.
“We appreciate Doug’s leadership experience, banking expertise and customer commitment throughout this time at the bank. We are excited for him as he celebrates this major milestone and congratulate him on his exciting new journey”, says Robert Thomas, United Bank & Trust.
In retirement, Husak is looking forward to spending time with his grandchildren, playing pickleball and enjoying RAGBRAI this summer. He will also continue to volunteer his time by playing guitar at Iowa River Hospice and St. Francis Schools weekly mass, and will remain a board member for Pilgrim Heights.
United Bank & Trust will be hosting an open house celebration of Doug’s career on Friday, March 7 from 11:00am – 2:00pm at United Bank & Trust, 2101 S. Center St.
Doug would also like to personally invite the public to attend his retirement party that same evening at Wayward Social from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. Attendees will enjoy drinks, appetizers and live music from The Fabulous Trutones blues band.
