OPA GRILL – BUILT ON FAMILY, FOOD AND COMMUNITY
Since opening in March 2019, Opa Grill has become a local favorite in Marshalltown, offering
American classics and Mediterranean cuisine. Owned by Yanni Coutsougeras, the family-run restaurant is built on more than 45 years of culinary experience passed down through generations.
From burgers and salads to made-to-order pastas and signature gyros, Opa Grill’s menu reflects years of passion and dedication to quality. Yanni shared that it took 20 years to craft the menu he proudly serves today, and he continues to explore new recipes and flavors to keep it evolving.
For Yanni, the restaurant business has always been personal. “Cooking is in my blood. I have been in restaurants basically since the day I was born,” he shared. “Seeing customers enjoy the food you made is a different kind of experience.” For him, building relationships with customers is just as meaningful as the food he serves.
Equally important is the connection to the Marshalltown community. Drawn by its hospitality, the Coutsougeras family chose to make it their home seven years ago and now give back by supporting local schools, teams, and other small businesses. “It’s all about the community and the support they show,” Yanni said, reflecting on what makes owning a business in Marshalltown so rewarding.
United Bank & Trust has been a valued partner in Opa Grill’s journey. “United Bank & Trust has helped us by giving us the opportunity to achieve our dream,” Yanni shared. “When things are rough, they show understanding and compassion.”
Built on family, food, and community, Opa Grill is more than a restaurant, it offers a unique dining experience unlike any other in Marshalltown. Grateful for the support of Marshalltown and United Bank & Trust, Yanni and his family look forward to continuing to serve their community for years to come.
